This is where life in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg takes place: on Schlossplatz Stuttgart. The popular meeting place is located right next to the pedestrian zone and is ideal for a short break. Here you can relax on one of the many …
… sit down on the benches and enjoy the Mediterranean ambience of the beautifully planted square with its Moorish music pavilion. The Old Palace with the cultural history museum and the New Palace are also located right on the square. Due to the architectural contrast, the two buildings make a great photo opportunity. The former royal residence is now a popular event location. Weddings are also regularly held here in the magnificent marble hall.
Not far away you can visit the impressive Stuttgart Art Museum. Art fans in particular will get their money’s worth in the exhibition with works by numerous well-known artists. No less impressive is the Stuttgart State Gallery with one of the most important art collections in Germany. Here you will find masterpieces from almost 800 years of art history – a real experience! There is even more culture in the venerable Stuttgart State Theater. Here you can enjoy a variety of performances from opera to ballet.
If you want to go a little higher, you shouldn’t miss the Stuttgart TV tower. The city’s landmark offers a unique view over the city and the Swabian Alb. Far above the city, you can also take a wonderful break and enjoy the delicacies in the café on the observation tower with a view of the Stuttgart sights. Another excursion destination with a great view is the burial chapel on the Württemberg. Picturesquely located in the middle of vineyards, you can experience the panorama of the state capital and the Neckar valley from the temple-like burial chapel for Katharina von Württemberg.
Stuttgart is of course also known beyond the country’s borders for its car brands. You can find out more about Mercedes Benz and Porsche in two spectacular museums. In the Mercedes-Benz Museum, the history of the brand is impressively retold with over 1,500 exhibits. The Porsche Museum focuses on the product and motorsport history of the world-famous company to this day.
If you get hungry after so much sightseeing, you should plan a stop at the Stuttgart Market Hall. In the historic building you will find numerous food stalls with exclusive delicacies.
