Bad Waldsee (pop. approx. 20,000) received its town charter as early as 1298 and is located on the Upper Swabian Baroque Road. The historic old town, which was shaped by the Middle Ages, stretches on an isthmus between two lakes, the Stadtsee and the somewhat smaller Schlosssee.
