The historic centre of Bayreuth’s old town has a lot to offer tourists. In addition to the famous Friedrichstraße and the town church, you can discover the town’s most impressive buildings on a walk in the footsteps of Margravine Wilhelmine and Richard Wagner through the branching alleys: the Margravine Opera House, built for the wedding of Margravine Wilhelmine’s daughter and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the New Palace with its walk-in castle tower and picturesque courtyard garden. Haus Wahnfried is home to the Richard Wagner Museum, another tourist magnet. In the garden of the house you can also visit the grave of Richard Wagner and his wife Cosima.
