Bürresheim Castle looks like something out of a fairytale with its elaborate half-timbering, peaked roofs and beautiful oriels. So it’s no wonder that the Eifel castle from the High Middle Ages has already served as a film set several times. The impressive building can be seen in the fairytale film “Rumpelstiltskin” as well as in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. In the Baroque period, Bürresheim Castle was converted into a prestigious residential complex and is now regarded as a relic of Rhenish aristocratic and residential culture. Just like Burg Eltz and Burg Lissingen, Schloss Bürresheim was never destroyed – neither in the wars of the 17th nor in the 18th century.
