Frankfurt Cathedral, officially called St. Bartholomew’s Imperial Cathedral, was built in the 14th century in the Gothic style. Emperor Charles IV designated the sacred building as the official site for the election of German kings. A total of ten German emperors and kings were crowned here. In addition to the cathedral treasure, the viewing platform at a height of 66 meters is also a highlight of Frankfurt Cathedral. A total of 328 steps lead up to the cathedral tower, from where you have a unique view of the Franfkurter Museumsufer, the Paulskirche, the Römer and the famous Frankfurt skyline. Over the centuries, Frankfurt Cathedral has been destroyed twice – most recently by bombing in March 1944.
