One of the most popular destinations on the island of Rügen is located in the southeast of the island in the middle of a picturesque beech forest: the Granitz hunting lodge. The brick building was built from 1837 to 1846 by order of Prince Wilhelm Malte I of Putbus. Particularly striking is the 38-meter-high central tower of the hunting lodge, from which you can look out over the entire island in fine weather. Since cars are not welcome on the way to the castle, the best way to reach the impressive hunting lodge on the summit of the Tempelberg is on foot, by bike or from Binz or the parking lot Binz-Ost with its own hunting lodge express.
