In the middle of the harbour metropolis, not far from the shopping streets and the St. Pauli district, lies Hamburg’s “green lung” – the Park Planten un Blomen. The 45-hectare park delights with its magnificent plant borders, extensive lawns, idyllic streams and small lakes. The uniquely designed theme gardens are also an attraction that regularly draws many visitors and those in search of peace and quiet. Whereas in the 17th century the ramparts were still located here, which served as part of the fortification ring to defend the city, today the focus is clearly on recreation and leisure fun in Planten un Blomen. In summer, the popular concerts take place in the music pavilion and the colourful water light concerts on the park lake.
