After the first documented mention of Kirchberg in 1245, the town developed from a castle settlement into an imperial fortress and finally into the center of the Hohenlohe dominion. Today, Kirchberg an der Jagst can be experienced as a lively town with a romantic old town, where festivals such as the town holiday, the book market, the court garden festival and the well-known Christmas market are held regularly. The town’s sights include the former residential palace of the Princes of Hohenlohe-Kirchberg, the courtyard garden with orangery, the Sophienberg landscape park, as well as the Protestant town church dating from 1731 and the historic granary dating from 1490.
