If you are interested in shipping, you won’t be able to stop marveling at Lübeck’s Old Port. The museum harbor is home to numerous traditional ships such as tugboats, fishing vessels and old cargo sailers. Particularly famous is the historic sailing ship “Fridtjof”, which served as a supply ship for the polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen’s Arctic Ocean expedition at the end of the 19th century. The shark cutter “Hansine” from 1898 and the motor tug “Titan” from 1910 also deserve the title of absolutely worth seeing. In addition, the swing bridge built in 1892 and the bridge keeper’s house belong to the Old Port. The bridge was driven by a steam engine at that time and connects the old town of Lübeck with the electoral peninsula.
