Visitors to the Saxon town are often enchanted at first sight by Pirna’s historic market square. The magnificent town houses and the market square itself are very well preserved and hint at a time when Pirna’s inhabitants were very wealthy and Pirna was successful as a trading town. On the impressive buildings you can see beautiful oriels, ornate gables and sandstone seating niches. The famous market square invites you to stroll around and linger in one of the numerous cafés and restaurants. The guided city walks as well as the many events on the market square, such as the open-air festivals, are also worth a visit.
