Located in the eastern part of Sanssouci Park, the famous Hohenzollern Palace Sanssouci regularly attracts numerous visitors. Built according to ideas and detailed sketches of Frederick the Great on a terraced vineyard, the palace was the favorite place of the king and was used mainly as a summer residence and pleasure palace. On the uppermost vineyard terrace in Park Sanssouci, the monarch found his final resting place in a crypt, as he had wished – albeit belatedly in 1991. The magnificent rooms are considered a masterpiece of German rococo and contain works of art by Watteau, Panini and Pesne. Sanssouci Palace is complemented by the Picture Gallery and the New Chambers Palace.
