Great photo motif, heart of the city and popular meeting place: Schwäbisch’s market square is not considered one of the most beautiful squares in Baden-Württemberg for nothing. Particularly worth seeing on the town’s central square are the baroque town hall and the picturesque half-timbered, burgher and noble houses, as well as the Romanesque-Gothic church of St. Michael with its famous flight of steps. Another highlight of Schwäbisch Hall’s market square is undoubtedly the Gothic market fountain dating from 1509. As its name Fischbrunnen suggests, fish used to be sold here. The fountain features three gargoyles – representing the saints Michael, George and Simon – fighting lions, dragons and a lindworm.
