The former sail training ship Gorch Fock was built in 1933 at the Blohm and Voss shipyard in Hamburg and used for training junior officers of the Reichsmarine in Stralsund. After being sunk near the Drigge Peninsula on April 30, 1945, it was raised and restored two years later. From 1951 the sailing ship was in the service of the Soviet Navy. As early as 2003, the Gorch Fock was then purchased by the Hamburg-based Tall Ship Friends association and extensively refurbished. Today, the ship is back in its home port of Stralsund and can be visited with a guided tour or on your own.
