Actually, it was not supposed to be built at all, but today the Stuttgart TV tower is a well-known landmark of the city. The 217-meter-high tower on the Hoher Bopser was built in the early 1950s when television broadcasting resumed. In addition to the spectacular view, which in good weather reaches as far as the Swabian Alb, the café on the observation tower is also a highlight. So it’s no surprise that Stuttgart’s TV tower is popular with tourists and locals alike. However, the sight no longer serves as a television tower. Since 2006, the television program has been broadcast from the adjacent telecommunications tower.
