In Wetzlar’s old town there is something to see on almost every corner: Idyllic half-timbered houses, magnificent baroque buildings and medieval squares. The Wetzlar Cathedral, which has not been completed to this day, is definitely worth a visit. One of the six museums is the Lottehaus, which is dedicated to the visit of Johann Wolfgang Goethe in the summer of 1772. This is where the story to his world-famous novel “The Sorrows of Young Werther” was written, which brought Wetzlar into the focus of world literature. The numerous visitors also like to stroll through the historic alleys with their beautiful stores, restaurants and cafes or through one of the idyllic parks.
