The town of Bautzen (pop. approx. 40,000) in mountainous Upper Lusatia has built numerous towers in its more than 1,000-year history; currently there are still 17 towers that give the beautiful medieval town an imposing silhouette. The old town has been extensively renovated in recent years and invites you to stroll through the beautiful alleys. Among the numerous monuments, the towers are particularly noteworthy, perched photogenically on a rocky plateau above the Spree. They can be ideally viewed from the Friedensbrücke bridge.
