Sightseeing from a bird's eye view

If you want to experience Cologne from a bird’s eye view, you should plan a ride on the Rhine cable car. The tourist attraction, now officially known as the Kölner Seilbahn, was built in 1957 on the occasion of the Federal Garden Show and connects the two banks of the river in Riehl and Deutz at the Zoobrücke bridge. The cable car is 935 metres long and is currently operated by Kölner Seilbahn-Gesellschaft mbH, a subsidiary of Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe (KVB). A ride on the cable car is particularly popular with tourists, who enjoy the view of the Old Town panorama and the Rhine Park. But the people of Cologne themselves also like to use the cable car.
