On the Seestraße, Constance’s lakeside promenade, you have a unique view of Lake Constance, the harbor of Constance and the Alps behind it. In addition, while strolling leisurely along the one-kilometer-long promenade, you can admire impressive buildings with elaborately painted facades from the Art Nouveau era as well as magnificent villas. While cars are still allowed to drive in the first section of the promenade, further back only pedestrians and bicycles are allowed. From Constance’s old town, the lakeside promenade on the opposite side in Constance-Petershausen can be reached in about ten minutes on foot. Many locals use the steps leading down to the shore to sit or swim.
