The impressive Egg Castle is located in the Bavarian district of Deggendorf. Today a well-visited excursion destination, the former defensive complex was built in the 11th century as a moated castle. In the middle of the 19th century, it was converted into a habitable castle in the neo-Gothic style. During the extensive restoration, great importance was attached to preserving the elements of a knight’s castle. The magnificent interior of the castle with banqueting halls such as the Hall of Mirrors, the Red and Blue Drawing Rooms, the Knights’ Hall, the Games Hall and the Concert Hall can be visited. The 45-metre-high castle tower with its dungeon and torture chamber can also be visited. The romantic castle chapel is very popular with wedding couples as a venue for a church wedding.
