What would the Frankfurt skyline be without the imposing Maintower? The skyscraper in Frankfurt’s city centre with a height of 240 metres was opened in 2000 and has five basement floors, 56 upper floors and two viewing platforms open to the public. The restaurant on the 53rd floor is also popular with visitors and, like the platforms, offers a unique view over the Main metropolis. After the attacks of 11 September, the viewing area was temporarily closed to the public. Two famous works of art are also eye-catchers in the entrance area of the Main Tower: Bill Viola’s video installation The World of Appearances and Stephan Huber’s wall mosaic.
