The highest town in Bavaria

The historic old town of Füssen in the Allgäu region is a magnet for visitors from all over the world, just like the nearby castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The romantic town is located at the intersection of the Romantic Road, the Via Claudia Augusta and the German Alpine Road. Strolling through the highest town in Bavaria, you can marvel at the medieval alleys, time-honoured buildings as well as the old town wall. A multitude of cosy cafés, restaurants, shops and squares invite you to stroll and linger. The impressive sacred buildings of Füssen’s old town include in particular the magnificent baroque complex of the former Benedictine monastery of St. Mang, which rises on the high bank of the Lech.
