The old town of Hannoversch-Münden, which is located at the estuary triangle and was originally just called Münden, is considered a half-timbered town of European rank with its half-timbered houses from six different centuries. At the heart of the old town is the market square, where the Münden town hall was built at the beginning of the 17th century, one of the most beautiful buildings in the style of the so-called Weser Renaissance. The magnificent south façade in Renaissance style faces the time-honoured market square. Due to the numerous buildings with medieval structures, full-time town and monument conservators have been responsible for the careful handling of the medieval building fabric in the old town in Hannoversch-Münden since the 1960s.
