Between Heidelberg and Darmstadt, surrounded by vineyards, lies the old town of Lorsch in Hesse. In addition to the time-honored Lorsch Monastery, which should not be missed during a visit to Lorsch, the old town also has many sights to offer. Historical references to the tobacco culture that used to be widespread in Lorsch can be found at every corner of the beautiful old town – from the former tobacco factories to the Tobacco Museum and the Tobacco Fountain, which is located on the market square of Lorsch’s old town in front of the Old Town Hall. During a side trip to Lorsch, you should also definitely try some of the regional specialties: Lorsch Welschbrot together with a good drop of Lorsch wine.
