If you want to admire a piece of the cultural history of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, then a visit to the Seeschloss Mirow and its magnificent park with its baroque avenues and winding paths is worthwhile. Built in 1709 as a widow’s residence for Duchess Christiane Aemilie Anthonie, the castle is the region’s only surviving historical monument from this period. Particularly impressive is the high and precious density of rococo furnishings in the interiors, which date back to a remodelling phase under Duchess Elisabeth Albertine between 1756 and 1761. The centre of the Seeschloss Mirow is the magnificent baroque ballroom, which was decorated by the Italian stucco artist Giovanni Battista Clerici.
