Munich’s Odeonplatz is a historic square in the old town, bordering Ludwigstraße and many sights. These include the remarkable exterior façade of the Theatinerkirche and the Residenz, Munich’s largest inner-city palace. The Feldherrenhalle, commissioned by Ludwig I in 1844 to honour the Bavarian army, is also very famous. Two large marble lions are enthroned on the staircase, which is a popular meeting place in fine weather. A highlight inside the Feldherrenhalle are the bronze statues of Count Tilly and Prince Wrede and the Bavarian Army Monument. The adjacent courtyard garden invites you to take a walk and relax.
