On Munich’s Odeonsplatz, all you can see is the façade of the Odeon, once the city’s most famous concert hall. Today, the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior has its official residence here. The original building dates from the 19th century and was used as a concert hall and ballroom. After the building was destroyed down to the foundation walls in a bombing raid during the Second World War, only the façade could be saved during reconstruction. From 1951 onwards, the building was converted into today’s Ministry of the Interior. Where the magnificent concert hall of the Odeon once stood, there is now an inner courtyard. In 2007, a glass roof was added to the courtyard.
