Here you can experience the history of the city of Passau from the Middle Ages to the present day: in Passau’s Veste Oberhaus castle. Above the city and its sister castle Veste Niederhaus lies one of the largest preserved castle complexes in Europe. Tourists are offered not only exciting exhibitions on the city’s history but also an observation tower with a unique view. Those who climb the steps inside the observation tower from the 18th century also get to see a multimedia exhibition at the same time. In the public observatory at Neuwall, you can regularly look up at the stars with amateur astronomers. There are also several hiking trails around the Veste Oberhaus, such as the Goldsteig.
