“City of towers” or “Franconian Jerusalem” are two names that have been associated with the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber since the 16th century. The reason for this is the total of 42 towers that form the silhouette of the old town along the town wall. You enter the old town through six gates and several turrets. You can also explore the completely accessible city wall yourself via the Rothenburg Tower Trail. A tour of about four kilometres takes about 2.5 hours. Interested visitors can learn a lot about the long history of the Rothenburg city wall on information boards and in the brochure on the tower path.
