Here you can experience Jewish history live: in the White Tower in Galgengasse in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Together with the Jewish Dance House and the Rabbi Meir Garden in front of it, the White Tower is a Jewish memorial. Here you can learn more about the life of the Jewish scholar Rabbi Meir Ben Baruch, who was also called Maharam, as well as about Jewish life in the Middle Ages in general. The rabbi was part of a highly esteemed family of scholars and had an educational institution with a school, prayer midrash and synagogue at nearby Kapellenplatz. The White Tower, also known as the Gallows Arch, was part of the old inner city fortifications.
