St. Jacob’s Church in Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a popular destination for more than 1,000 pilgrims from all over the world every year, as the well-known place of worship is located on the St. James’ Way to Santiago de Compostela. This is why the magnificent main altar inside the church also depicts the path of St. James together with the oldest image of Rothenburg’s market square. Even more impressive, however, is the imposing altar of the Holy Blood by Tilman Riemenschneider, which regularly attracts numerous visitors to the pilgrimage church, which was built from 1311 to 1484. On the wooden altar in the western high choir, the last supper of Jesus with his disciples can be seen in extremely detailed carvings.
