A popular destination for hikers and tourists in Saxon Switzerland is the striking table mountain Lilienstein. The mountain is the only table mountain on the right side of the Elbe and is an official part of the Saxon Switzerland National Park. The Lilienstein was first mentioned in a document in 1379. Until the beginning of the 15th century, a small castle was enthroned here, the ruins of which can still be seen along the hiking trail. On the south side there is also a stepped path, which was laid out by August the Strong in 1708. In 1896, a lookout tower was erected on the Table Mountain and nowadays a mountain restaurant invites hikers to stop for a bite to eat after the ascent.
