Discover an enchanted castle complex on your own – that’s possible at Berlepsch Castle in Witzenhausen, Hesse. Picturesquely situated on a hill in the Werra Valley, the three-winged castle complex Schloss Berlepsch was built between 1368 and 1369 by Arnold von Berlepsch as a late medieval fortress. Despite the reconstructions and renovations after the destruction in the course of the Thirty Years’ War, Berlepsch Castle has preserved much of this late medieval character. In addition to the extensive castle park, the castle grounds also include a recently renovated castle chapel, which was designed by Gustav Schönermark in the 19th century. Interesting details and stories about Berlepsch Castle can be discovered during an exciting puzzle tour.
