A lovely place to linger is Stralsund’s Knieperteich pond, which is located in an idyllic park just opposite the city wall. Visitors marvel at the two white wooden bridges above it and the impressive water fountain. The fountain is reminiscent of Hamburg’s Binnenalster or Lake Geneva. There are no leisure attractions for bathers or water sports enthusiasts at Stralsund’s Knieperteich, but the inland body of water captivates with its natural charm. Other lakes in the area with corresponding sports and leisure facilities are Fleesensee, about 98 kilometres away, or closer lakes such as Wamper Wiek or Pütter See.
