Advent Forest Rudersberg

A special highlight of the Rudersberg Christmas market can be spotted in the old town hall square. Here, spruce and fir trees as tall as houses are decorated with thousands of lights reaching up to the roofs of the surrounding half-timbered houses. A real forest is set up here every year. The very special thing about it is that under the trees, so-called “in the forest”, Advent stalls with tasty treats are waiting for you. You can enjoy a glass of mulled wine or punch, eat crêpes or something hearty and soak up the atmosphere. Of course, you’ll be standing very close to each other.

Tip: Sheltered by the trees, it’s not that cold, despite the winter temperatures. Find a nice spot early, because it gets very crowded, especially on Saturday and Sunday.

Half-timbered houses and light-filled alleys

The town hall square with its winter forest is the highlight of the Rudersberg Advent Forest. If it’s too crowded for you, you’ll find plenty of cozy alleyways with numerous fairy lights around it. This is the most attractive feature of the Rudersberg Christmas market in general: its charming stalls and the twinkling lights. The whole scene is set against a beautiful backdrop of half-timbered houses. The market is not large, but all the more cozy for it.

Special tip:

A ride on the Swabian Forest Railway

Rudersberg is also a stop on the Swabian Forest Railway, which runs as a steam locomotive on some days. This is a pure romantic idyll. Check in advance – the timetable is on the internet – tickets can be booked in advance. Maybe you can combine a visit to the Advent Forest with a ride on the train.
