Take a stroll through the Marburg Christmas market

Have you ever been to Marburg during Advent? A visit to the romantic Weihnachtsmarkt Marburg Christmas market is worthwhile. We visited the beautiful old town of Marburg over the weekend, which is always worth a visit. At Christmastime, a stroll through the alleys with the half-timbered houses worth seeing is especially recommended. Shining stars and Christmas decorated windows put you in the Christmas mood.

You will find the Christmas market directly on the square in front of the Marburg town hall. The setting is perfect. All around beautiful old houses, which are decorated for Christmas. Beautifully decorated stalls, attractive scents, delicious food and stalls with carvings and other things. Take your time for a leisurely stroll and soak up the Christmas atmosphere.

Tip: At the upper end of the square, the narrowed Obermarkt, you will find a stand where you can enjoy a really delicious mulled wine or punch. With the steaming cup in your hand, you can chat with friends or simply enjoy.

The town hall of Marburg

And while you’re in Marburg, check out the particularly beautiful historic town hall, built 1512-1527. It is located at the lower end of Marburg’s Christmas market, the wide Untermarkt, and is decorated all around with little lights at Christmastime. A small “Ferris wheel” set up directly in front of the town hall conjures up a romantic atmosphere in the already beautiful setting and a smile on every child’s face.

The tour continues from Obermarkt to Mainzer Gasse, which is lined with particularly beautiful half-timbered houses. Here, at first, numerous visitors stand in large and small groups and enjoy their mulled wine or punch while chatting. As you continue up the alley, it becomes quieter and very romantic. At the very top, you walk towards a red-lit, photogenic half-timbered house.

Tip: The whole Mainzer Gasse offers many beautiful photo motifs.
