Stuttgart Christmas market railway: through the winter landscape on the "Bähnle" train
One of the absolute highlights that cannot be missed at the Stuttgart Christmas Market is the popular “Bähnle”. Every year, an idyllic winter landscape in miniature format is set up directly in front of the Königsbau on an area of around 400 square metres. Picturesque half-timbered houses, railway stations, churches, cafés, gondolas leading up to a snow-covered peak and a well-attended barn festival – the tracks on which the Stuttgart Christmas Market steam locomotive hisses its way through this magical world. The “Bähnle” offers space for a total of 42 little passengers and is a popular photo opportunity for visitors. But beware: the miniature railway at the Stuttgart Christmas market is particularly busy at weekends and you can expect longer waiting times.

In addition to the Stuttgart Christmas Market Zug, another attraction should not be missing from our Places of Germany tips. The popular Christmas Ferris wheel can be seen from afar in front of the New Palace. From a lofty height, you can look out over the atmospheric Christmas village and the city centre from the Stuttgart Ferris wheel and treat yourself to a break from the hustle and bustle of the pre-Christmas period. In the children’s fairytale land at the Stuttgart Christmas market, little Christmas fans can also take a spin on a carousel or sample the delicacies at one of the numerous stalls. The many hands-on activities that are regularly offered for children in the Christmas village, such as the candle workshop or the children’s bakery, are always very popular.
