Pumpkin exhibition Ludwigsburg 2023: Under the sign of fire

In 2023, from the end of August to the beginning of December, it’s time to go to the Ludwigsburg Fairytale Garden. As every year, the lovingly crafted pumpkin figures have a specific theme. At this year’s Ludwigsburg pumpkin exhibition you can admire Fred Flintstone, Fireman Sam and Jim Knopf with his steam locomotive. For the past 20 years, around 450,000 pumpkins from around 600 varieties have been on display – great photo opportunities are guaranteed here.

The various events such as the pumpkin boat regatta in the Südgarten lake, cooking Germany’s largest pumpkin soup, the German championship and the European championship in pumpkin weighing are all exciting. And the pumpkin exhibition also caters for the physical well-being – from pumpkin waffles to pumpkin spaetzle and roasted pumpkin seeds, there is something for everyone.

Ludwigsburg Flowering Baroque & Residence Palace

The venue for this popular event is the Blüba Ludwigsburg. In the year-round garden show at the Residenzschloss, you can marvel at the splendour of flowers in the Fairytale Garden or the flamingos and storks in the Sardinian Garden. In addition to the garden exhibition, events such as the Lichterzauber (Magic of Lights) or the International Street Music Festival take place here regularly throughout the year. As a former ducal residence, the Residenzschloss itself delights visitors with various museums and permanent exhibitions. The highlight of Ludwigsburg Palace, however, is clearly the annual pumpkin exhibition.
