… with its many cafés and restaurants, is a popular meeting place for visitors and locals alike. Not far away is one of the city’s absolute highlights: the Ludwigsburg Residential Palace. The former ducal residence of the first king of Württemberg fascinates visitors today with various museums and permanent exhibitions that give an insight into earlier times. For example, you can marvel at genuine Ludwigsburg porcelain in the ceramics museum or 18th century clothing in the fashion museum. Extra tip for families: in the interactive children’s realm, even the little ones from the age of four get their money’s worth. At least as worth seeing is the extensive park of the Residenzschloss, also known as the Blühendes Barock. Germany’s oldest garden show is open all year round and consists of various impressively designed gardens such as the Upper Orchard, the Sardinian Garden, where you can also find flamingos and storks, and the Ludwigsburg Fairytale Garden. This imaginative park with its many fairytale figures is not just for children. A special highlight is the Ludwigsburg Pumpkin Exhibition, which takes place annually at the Blühenden Barock. The world-famous exhibition delights visitors with oversized pumpkin figures on new themes every year and various events such as the German and European Pumpkin Weighing Championships. The International Street Music Festival and the Magic of Lights with large musical fireworks display also regularly attract many spectators to the beautiful garden and park landscape at the Residential Palace. The Monrepos moated castle in Ludwigsburg is also definitely worth a visit. The picturesque lakeside palace is not only a popular venue for weddings and events such as the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival’s classical open air with light shows and fireworks. Day trippers also like to come here for a walk or to take a trip on the lake in a pedalo or rowing boat.
