Residence of the Prince-Bishops of Speyer

The power of the former prince-bishops of Speyer can still be felt today in Bruchsal Castle from the 18th century. These were not only the spiritual heads, but also official sovereigns and built Bruchsal Castle as their official residence. Accordingly, the palace and the garden are splendidly and representatively designed. The prince-bishops resided here for a period of 80 years. Particularly worth seeing are the impressive staircase by Balthasar Neumann and the wall and ceiling paintings with Christian motifs. Today, the state rooms of Bruchsal Palace can be visited on guided tours. It is also home to the Bruchsal Municipal Museum and the German Museum of Music Automatons.
