The birthplace of Hermann Hesse

The town of Calw is certainly known to most tourists as the birthplace of the poet Hermann Hesse. In the official Hermann Hesse Museum on the market square, you can learn more about the town’s most famous son. The picturesque alleys of the old town invite you to stroll and wander. Treat yourself to a little time out in one of the numerous cafés or restaurants on Calw’s market square and admire the historic half-timbered houses. Above the town you can visit the famous Calw prison tower, popularly known as “Der Lange”. The extensive ruins and the monastery museum in the Hirsau district are also definitely worth a visit.
