The Frauenwörth monastery is located on the idyllic Fraueninsel in Lake Chiemsee. It has been home to the Benedictine order for over 1200 years, which lives according to the rules of Saint Benedict. The monastery complex covers about a third of the total area of Fraueninsel and shapes the face and life on the island. The Benedictine monastery complex includes its own marzipan manufactory and a liqueur cellar, whose products are extremely popular with the many tourists who flock to the island. The monastery also offers a venue for seminars and rooms in the “Scholastika” guesthouse. This was built as early as 1611 and can still be admired in its original state.
