Oasis in Frankfurt's West End

Whether school classes, families or local walkers – the Frankfurt Palm Garden in Frankfurt’s West End is popular with many day-trippers. As one of three botanical gardens in Frankfurt am Main, it is one of the largest gardens in the whole of Germany at 22 hectares. Adjacent to it is the Frankfurt Botanical Garden, which until 2011 belonged to the Department of Biosciences at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt. Together with Grüneburgpark, these three gardens form Frankfurt’s largest green space. After the Second World War, the Palmengarten was located in the restricted area of the American occupation forces in the Westend until 1948. Until 2006, the American Consulate General was located in the south of the garden.
