Historical half-timbered treasures from the 15th century

Idstein in the Taunus region enchants with a picturesque old town, where the centuries-old building fabric is very well preserved and creates a very special atmosphere. The centrally located König-Adolf-Platz is surrounded by elaborately decorated half-timbered houses from the 15th and 16th centuries. Nearby are also the town hall, which is worth seeing and dates from 1698, as well as the so-called “Schiefe Haus”, which was built in 1728 for the major of the town militia, Nicolay. Through the “Kanzleitor” next to the town hall you can reach the castle district, where you can find the Idstein castle, the Stockheimer Hof and a stately group of buildings with the Hexenturm.
