The mountain Lake Kochel is located in the greater Munich area and is connected to the Walchensee via the Kesselberg and the Walchensee power plant. Tourists as well as day trippers greatly appreciate the lake with its Alpine panorama in the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. It is a wonderful place to hike or cycle around the lake. In summer, Lake Kochel is popular with bathers, who particularly head for the beaches in Schlehdorf or Kochel am See. You can also hire a pedal boat or rowing boat here or cross the lake in a small boat. Situated on the northern edge of the Alps, Lake Kochel has an area of about 6 km².
