In the middle of the beautiful baroque town of Ludwigsburg is the market square with its impressive arcaded houses. Designed in the 18th century according to the Italian model, one building in particular stands out on the market square next to the two churches: the fountain in the middle of the square. It depicts Duke Eberhard Ludwig, to whom the city owes its name. Ludwigsburg’s market square is a meeting place for locals and visitors alike, especially in fine weather, and its many restaurants, cafés and shops invite you to linger and stroll. A stone’s throw away from Ludwigsburg’s market square are the famous Residenzschloss, Favorite Palace and the moated Monrepos Palace.
