The Old Town Hall of Michelstadt is located on the historic market square and characterizes the townscape like no other building. The late medieval building was erected in 1484 and is today considered a landmark of the Odenwald. Particularly noteworthy are the picturesque west front with the truncated gable and the oriel turrets as well as the clock. This originally came from the Untertor and was only attached to Michelstadt’s town hall in 1892. As one of the most important late medieval half-timbered buildings in Germany, the Old Town Hall is one of the country’s official cultural monuments. Today, Michelstadt’s town hall can be visited. In addition, receptions, exhibitions or seminars are held here on a regular basis.
