Gothic monument

Near the city park is the Lutheran St. John’s Church of Miltenberg. The church was built in 1897 in Gothic style. Together with the parish office and the building of the Evangelical Lutheran parish, which are also built of red sandstone, the Miltenberg St. John’s Church forms a unique architectural monument. Especially worth seeing are the colorful windows with biblical scenes and the Christ figure on the tower. The latter is a copy of the Christ figure by Bertel Thorvaldsen at Copenhagen Cathedral. Due to its architectural style, the St. John’s Church in Miltenberg forms an exciting architectural contrast to the rest of the old town. The church’s bell ringing was specially coordinated with the Catholic church of St. James.
