Moritzburg Castle near Dresden is the epitome of a romantic fairytale castle. The hunting lodge with its four towers from the 16th century, which received its baroque style from August the Strong, rises on an artificial island in the castle pond. A total of eight former guard houses are distributed around the building on the island. Moritzburg Palace has achieved international fame as the setting for several fairytale films. These include “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” from 1987 and “Cinderella” from 1989. Every year, the Moritzburg Festival with a series of chamber music concerts and the Moritzburg Castle Triathlon take place in the castle grounds.
