Alongside magnificent town houses, the Hofbräuhaus on the eastern half dominates the square with its picturesque cobblestones. The world’s most famous pub also impresses with its Neo-Renaissance design. In addition, Munich’s Platzl with its special flair is also home to many other restaurants and the noble Orlandohaus, named after the chapel master at the ducal court Orlando di Lasso. The town houses traditionally housed some of Munich’s student fraternities. Some can still be found here today.
