Discover the Bavarian spa without the "bath"

A popular vacation destination in the Allgäu is the village of Oberstaufen. Located at about 791 meters on the border with Austria, Oberstaufen includes the districts of Steibis, Aach and Thalkirchdorf. Oberstaufen is also well visited as a health resort – since 1991, the market in the Bavarian district of Oberallgäu has the highest German level of health resort classification. Officially, however, Oberstaufen does without the place suffix “Bad”, which actually identifies health resorts. In the picturesque little town, there are also numerous sights to marvel at, such as the parish church of St. Peter and Paul, the Gothic chapel of St. Bartholomäus, as well as the local history museum “Beim Strumpfar,” the farmhouse museum “S’Huimatle” and the show dairy with its own cheese school.
